Pediatric speech therapy consists of one-on-one sessions with the speech pathologist who will be working with your child. The individually designed 50 minute sessions are created with your child's specific needs, age and interests in mind. At the end of the session you will be given an update and homework will be given at the discretion of the therapist and depending on the needs of the child.
Very young children may need the parent to be in the treatment session while older children benefit from working independently. Observation rooms are available and afford the parent the opportunity of watching the therapy session while not distracting the child.
Parents are an integral part of the speech therapy process. Parent Conferences with Julia and your clinician are held approximately every six months to discuss current progress as well as future goals. These conferences are at no charge to the family.
We know from years of experience working with children of all ages that early intervention may ensure earlier correction of the problems and ultimately an overall shorter duration of treatment.
Another wonderful aspect of early intervention is the potential for the child to be in and out of speech therapy before he/she ever realizes there is a problem or something to "correct."
